For the final week of the round robin of the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup (May 27-June 1), Jeric Teng was named as the Master Best Player of the Week.
The swingman and skipper of the University of Santo Tomas led secured a stat sheet-stuffing 27 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and three blocks in their 76-75 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College and end their round-robin with a 5-3 record.
The victory of the Growling Tigers ensured that they advance to the next round. They would have been the fourth and final seed if not for Ateneo's decision to not pursue further postseason activities in both the Filoil and the Fr. Martin's Cup. The withdrawal moved them up to the third seed.
Joining Teng in the Gatorade Best Five are EAC's Ely Paguia, Adamson's Jericho Cruz, FEU's Mike Tolomia and Ateneo's Kiefer Ravena.
Cruz's teammate Rodney Brondial was named as the Gatorade Defensive Player of the Week. The big man averaged 12.5 rebounds and a steal for Adamson in their 79-78 win over Perpetual and 75-68 loss to San Beda.
