Defending champions Ateneo and La Salle are to begin their title defense of their judo crowns as UAAP Season 77 judo tournament kicks off at the Blue Eagle Gym.
The Blue Judokas will have to deal with their counterparts from UP and La Salle as they try to continue their winning run from last season, led by Season 76 MVP Matt Jao and Anjo Gumila.
La Salle ended its 21-year title drought in the ladies' division, relying on their MVP in Nikki More. Rivals Ateneo comprise the main opposition for the Lady Judokas.
Meanwhile, perennial contenders UST aims to reload after their fourth-place finish in both men's and women's.
In the high school ranks, Ateneo seeks to retain the crown against De La Salle-Zobel and former champions UST.
