The Chot Reyes' handpicked Gilas 17

Chot Reyes just announced the pool of players that he will select the roster of players for the upcoming FIBA-Asia 2013 to be held here.

Jimmy Alapag (TNT) - The leader of the dynasty that is TNT. Veteran smarts. Long-distance shooting.
Jayson Castro (TNT) - Best Player of the just-concluded All-Filipino Cup
LA Tenorio (GIN) - Sealed his spot with Jones Cup performance
Ryan Reyes (TNT) - Shutdown combo guard
Gary David (GLO) - Streaky scoring machine with proven Gilas credibility
Larry Fonacier (TNT) - Smart. Clutch. Can Shoot.
Gabe Norwood (RoS) - The official SMART-Gilas Swiss Knife
Jared Dillinger (TNT) - Can shoot. Can defend. TNT's Swiss Knife.
Jeff Chan (RoS) - Think James Yap, but with a clutch gene.
Ranidel De Ocampo (TNT) - The best offensive scoring threat amongst local bigs.
Marc Pingris (SMC) - Beast on the boards. Work ethic unquestioned.
Japeth Aguilar (GLO) - Has the best skill set. Up to Junel Baculi to finally unlock it and for Chot to see it.
Kelly Williams (TNT) - Has size and defensive capability
Sonny Thoss (ALA) - Familiar with system. Has size.
Junmar Fajardo (PET) - Really big. Can easily be plugged in down low.
Marcus Douthit (???) - Our Naturalized big man. Will take care of things down low.
Greg Slaughter (NLE) - Knows system. Has size.

Who makes the final 12? Barring injury, most likely it will be:

3 from Alapag, Castro, Reyes, Tenorio
4 from David, Fonacier, Norwood, Chan, Dillinger
3 from De Ocampo, Pingris, Aguilar, Williams
1 from Thoss, Fajardo and Slaughter
Marcus Douthit

If Chot is concerned with size, he can go two from the Thoss group and remove one from either RDO group or David group.
